Real Lives @ RLC
Trey Meadows started attending Real Life Church in August 2005 after running past the church on one of his training runs for the Twin Cities Marathon. Running is a big part of Trey’s life. He coaches Cross Country and Track at NCU, and the team has been very successful the past few years. Trey is pictured in the yellow sweatshirt along with the NCU cross country team.
But this Thanksgiving, two weeks after winning the National Championship, tragedy struck the team. An 18 year old freshman passed away when her heart simply stopped beating. She was healthy, strong, and one of the most consistent runners on the team.
Trey says, “She was one of the most gracious and loving people any of us had ever met. Our whole team of over 20 was crushed. Questions abounded as the pain of our loss crippled our thoughts.”
“Despite this overwhelming circumstance, God never let any of us get angry or doubt His goodness.”
At the funeral, 18 members of the youth group she worked in came to the Lord along with her sister, whom the team had been praying over for more than a year.
Trey continues, “Our team has served one another in love. What could have been a divide from a calling to lead my athletes has fostered a renewed passion to love and support those I love.”
