Taylor Drake

Real Lives @ RLC

Taylor Drake arrived at Real Life Church with his parents and sister in 1997. His dad, Pete Drake, was recently hired as the new pastor and had only been leading the church a few months.

During this time, when Taylor was about two, he woke up unable to stand or walk, had skin peeling from the palms of his hands and several other strange symptoms.

After taking him to the pediatrician, Taylor was immediately rushed to Children’s Hospital with something called “Kawasaki Syndrome,” a disease that ultimately causes inflammation of the blood vessels and can leave the child with a permanent heart condition. Since it was such a rare disease, doctors were coming in and out of the room just wanting to see a child with it.

It usually takes weeks to diagnose, and the damage is often already done to the heart, so many wondered how it was that the pediatrician diagnosed it so quickly.

Pete and Diane asked the doctor about his quick diagnosis, and he explained that every morning, he prayed for wisdom. As soon as he heard Taylor’s symptoms, the name of the disease came to his mind.

Immediately after arriving at the hospital, they started Taylor on the right course of treatment, and the church began to pray. It took two months for Taylor to completely recover, but as Diane expressed, “We know that prayer and our Christian doctor saved him from any life-long side effects.”

Not only could the disease have damaged Taylor’s heart but having the disease could also have stunted his growth. Now at age thirteen, Taylor has never had any heart problems, and he is presently over six feet tall!

Real Life Church World Outreach

PICTURE THIS...a world were there’s a little less hunger, a little less thirst, a little less ignorance…and more importantly, a lot less people without a connection to God!

The “world” can seem overwhelming at times, and it’s easy to think that you can’t have much of an impact...in fact, Jesus says in Matthew 26:11 that we’ll always have the poor among us...so what’s the use?

But don’t forget that Jesus also said that if we had faith, we could do even greater things than he did! What a promise!

So think about how you can be a part of the awesome things God is doing around the world through Real Life Church! In other words...GET IN THE PICTURE!

So…How Can I Get In The Picture?

Throughout this past year, we’ve been keeping you up-to-date with Real Life Church’s World Outreach endeavors. We’ve done this through our Sunday services, interviews with many of our “World Changers”, our monthly “World Outreach Spotlight” publication and our “World Outreach Newsletter” published every trimester.

And because of your faithful giving, more and more people are being fed & educated, and experiencing freedom from addictions & bondage. Also, orphans are being adopted, leaders are being trained to impact their communities & countries, schools are being built & renovated, and young & old are hearing the GOOD NEWS of Jesus Christ!

As we look forward to another year of impacting the world, we want to encourage those who have been involved to continue...you ARE making a difference TODAY, and you’re investing in eternity...thank you! But we also want to challenge those who haven’t been a part yet to consider GETTING IN THE PICTURE!

Three Easy Steps to Get In the Picture!

1. READ UP! Make yourself aware of what’s going on with Real Life Church’s World Outreach through this website, our monthly Spotlight, and our trimester newsletter, and stay tuned for more interviews with World Changers during Sunday morning services!

2. PRAY UP! Pray about what part you might have in affecting this great big world of ours….we can all do something, and together we can do A LOT! Pray for our World Changers often, and contact them to let them know that you are praying for them!

3. SIGN UP! Complete a pledge form entitled “My World Outreach Faith Commitments”, which explains two commitments: an “Encouragement Support Promise” and a “Financial Support Promise.” Then transfer that information onto the “World Outreach Bookmarker”, and return your commitment card to the church office or the Information Center. The bookmarker is for you to keep to remind yourself of your commitments to pray and give! The pledge forms & bookmarkers can be found in the World Outreach Booklets at the Information Table in the church foyer. Thanks for “GETTING IN THE PICTURE!”
